This is the Barangay Del Pilar one of the Giant Lantern in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga Philippines. This was taken last December 24, 2008 @ 11pm. The height of this Lantern is 20 feet, it manually played by the rotor at the back. Its just only in the Philippines you will see this Giant Lantern, in the Christmas Capital of the Philippines City of San Fernando. The Baragay Telabastagan was the 1st Runner up, 2nd the Brgy. Del Pilar & 3rd is Brgy. San Nicolas who won in this event last …

I had the great privilege of witnessing one of these Giant Lantern Contests many, many years ago. Mind-boggling complexity and spectacle from just ONE lantern. And there were many. You wish they all last forever.
See. . . if we can put together something this sophisticated and complicated, I’m convinced we can also clean up Maguindanao in 60 days.
